In response to Beijing's massive
unfair subsidies, EU countries have agreed to impose definitive
additional duties of up to 36.3% on Chinese electric vehicles,
according to ANSA.
Ten EU countries, including Italy and France, voted in favour
of imposing definitive additional duties on Chinese electric
vehicles. This is what ANSA learnt from European sources
following the vote of the 27. Five countries, led by Germany,
were opposed. Twelve abstained, including Spain. According to
diplomatic sources, in addition to Italy and France, Bulgaria,
Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Lithuania,
and Poland supported the proposal. Hungary, Malta, Slovakia, and
Slovenia were among those who opposed Berlin. Belgium, Greece,
the Czech Republic, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Austria,
Portugal, Romania, Sweden, and Finland were among the many
countries that abstained.
