Today is Greece's "Day of No," a
national commemoration of October 28, 1940, when Greek Prime
Minister Ioannis Metaxas refused Benito Mussolini's ultimatum to
allow Italian troops into Hellenic territory. It marked the
start of a months-long war on the Greek-Albanian border. "Ours
is now a strong country, with Armed Forces ready to guarantee
national integrity and make us feel safe," said Prime Minister
Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
